# Start page in the new tab

With the aYOUne Companion every new tab becomes your start page: date and greeting, your next appointments, your key figures, the latest notifications – and your bookmarks from start.ayoune.app, which you can edit right there. One search field finds bookmarks and records in aYOUne.

## Switching it on and off

The start page is on by default. You find the switch in the Companion settings under **Features → Overview in new tabs**. When it is off, a new tab opens start.ayoune.app. If you are not signed in, the new tab shows a **Sign in with aYOUne** button.

## Your bookmarks

The new tab shows the same bookmarks as start.ayoune.app – changes appear on both.

- Each group shows up to five links. **+N more** expands the rest.
- Links without a group are listed under **No group**.
- **Frequently used** shows the eight bookmarks you open most often. Counting happens only in your browser.
- Links set to "Open in a new tab" open in a new tab.

**All bookmarks on start.ayoune.app** at the top right always takes you to the full start page.

## Editing bookmarks

1. Click **Edit**.
2. **Add link** creates a link: address, title, group and whether it opens in a new tab.
3. **Add group** creates a new group.
4. The pencil next to a link or group lets you change or delete it. The Companion asks before deleting.
5. To reorder, drag a link to another position or into another group. Drag groups by their heading. Without a mouse: select a link or group with the Tab key and press **Alt + Up arrow** or **Alt + Down arrow**.
6. Click **Done**.

Every change is saved immediately. If someone has meanwhile added a bookmark another way – for example with the right-click action "Save page as bookmark" – it is kept.

## Searching

- Press **/** or click into the search field.
- While you type, the page shows only matching bookmarks.
- From two characters on, the Companion also searches aYOUne, for example for contacts, tasks or products, and suggests matching areas.
- Use the **arrow keys** to pick a result, **Enter** opens it, **Ctrl + Enter** opens it in a new tab. **Esc** clears the field.

## Your organization's logo and colour

If your organization has stored a logo and a main colour in aYOUne, the new tab shows them: the logo at the top left, the colour on the buttons. Without them you see the aYOUne logo and colour.

## Without a connection

If no connection is possible, the new tab shows the last loaded version of your bookmarks with the note "Offline – as of …". Editing is then locked so nothing gets lost.

## Privacy

Bookmarks, logo and colour come from your own aYOUne account. Search terms from two characters go to the search of your account. The page does not load icons from the saved websites; it shows the first letter instead. Details are in the [privacy policy](https://ayoune.com/en/docs/companion/privacy-policy), section 2.18.
