# First sign-in

On first launch, the Desktop Client opens the sign-in screen. The steps:

## Step 1: Enter your email

Type the email address your aYOUne account was created with. The client automatically recognises which aYOUne tenant you belong to.

## Step 2: Choose a tenant (if you have several)

If you have an aYOUne account with several companies or tenants (for example as a consultant or when you look after several locations), the client shows a list. Click the tenant you want to work with today. You can switch between tenants at any time later — see [Managing multiple accounts](/de/docs/desktop-client/multi-account) (German).

## Step 3: Password

Enter your password. If you have forgotten it, click "Forgot password?" and you will receive a reset link by email.

## Step 4: Two-factor authentication (if enabled)

If your tenant has two-factor authentication enabled, an additional prompt appears after the password:

- **TOTP code from an authenticator app** (Google Authenticator, Authy, …): enter the 6-digit code.
- **YubiKey**: insert the YubiKey and touch the sensor when it flashes. More in [NFC and YubiKey](/de/docs/desktop-client/nfc-und-yubikey) (German).
- **NFC card**: hold the card against the NFC reader.

## Signed in

After signing in, the main window opens with your start page. The aYOUne icon appears in the system tray (Windows taskbar bottom right / macOS menu bar top right / Linux status bar). You can reopen the main window at any time from the tray icon.

## Staying signed in

By default you stay signed in for 30 days. If you close the main window, the app keeps running in the tray. The next time you click the tray icon you are still signed in — no need to sign in again.

To sign out: tray menu → "Sign out", or click your avatar at the top right of the main window → "Sign out".

## Multiple accounts

If you regularly switch between several aYOUne tenants, you do not need to sign out and back in each time. The Desktop Client supports multiple sign-ins. More in [Managing multiple accounts](/de/docs/desktop-client/multi-account) (German).

## If sign-in does not work

See [Troubleshooting](/de/docs/desktop-client/fehlerbehebung) (German).
